VICTIM IMPACT STATEMENT
What they are and how to use them

WHAT IS A VICTIM IMPACT STATEMENT?
A Victim Impact Statement (VIS) is a written description of your physical, psychological, emotional, and financial injuries that occurred as a direct result of the crime. A Victim Impact Statement (VIS) is used by the criminal justice system to better protect your interests. The VIS helps personalize the impact this crime has had on your life and those close to you.
